Hola Amigos and Welcome to the End of another Flight around the Sun!. ...It's beginning to look a lot like FUCK THIS... la la la la la la la la! Love the silly season. Saturnalia, Yule, Solstice, Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza... am I missing anything? Happy Holidays is becoming the most PC thing to say innit? Thank you Starbucks and their controversial red cups... LOL.
I've had an EPIC year of amazing lessons and experiences that I wouldn't trade FOR ANYTHING. Its been so great and creative and I'm infinitely grateful to the forces that have helped me along the way, especially through the tough parts.
Uluru, Kata Tjuta, BushFaery Godfathers, Owl and Frog Dreaming, Honey the Python, Heavytree Gap, Brothers and Lovers and Stars, Porsches, The NeverNever, The Jills, Witchfolk, Family, Schlupfwinkel, Eudunda, Lagonda, Japan, Tokyo, Love, Gari Gari, Drunk Poets See God, Open Acoustika, Musical Collaborators, Muses and The Moon!
Songs that got me through the year:
Blue Monday - New Order
Tech Noir - Gunship
Little Wing - Jimi Hendrix (Live at Royal Albert Hall)
What a Feeling - Irene Cara
Speaking of music getting me through the year, the album is in its final stages and Jakey and I are bringing the final threads together. I'm so excited for this new release! I'm thinking about how to distribute it - perhaps a digital release + analogue illustrated songbook? What do you reckon? Anyone wanna collaborate? Some beautiful musicians are featured on this album too so be sure to check out their individual projects too! Some notable names: Samm Bennett, Morgan Fisher, Yoichi Petashi, Kaoru Arai, Robert Moreau and Dylan Hunter and Shathi.
I also am VERY chuffed to have been invited to perform at the Black Card Cabaret Event on Feb 5 next year at the Shangri-La Hotel here in Tokyo. Ooh la la, what AM I going to wear??
So today I'm writing! Its great to be getting my thoughts down. I've been watching WAYYY too many episodes of "Girls" and can't decide whether Lena Dunham is a genius or a madwoman. The two are particularly close companions...
Have an inspired holiday all. If you're in Tokyo, the Drunk Poets will be gathering for a festive night, December 25 on the Cancerian Full Moon. I'm thinking Bloody Marys...seems seasonally appropriate ;) please join us at Bar Gari Gari!
