春分の日 Vernal Equinox
Welp. It's half past March. Will ya look at that!!? Time is kicking on, and yours truly has been living her best life, yes, I'm a do a humble brag. Lotsa music which is exactly what I've always wanted. Creative types abound. New gigs. Feeling blessed. All that. Had an amazing Kabukicho adventure last week with Ethan, Yappy さん and バブルさん。めちゃ楽しかった！Here's my review:
On a mild Spring night my friend and I met Yappy near the bustling Shinjuku JR station. He was instantly engaging and funny and made us feel like we were about to have a real adventure.
Nearby there were the famous “memory lanes” that housed a warren of old Tokyo-style eateries that could only fit half a dozen customers at a time. Then we dove deeper into the heart of Kabukicho where the entertainment district lay. Yappy showed us old photos on his iPad of what the area used to look like and told us many stories of local legends and how the area survived post-war.
He led us confidently through the maze of lights and colorful characters until we reached our culinary destination. There the master chef put on a spread that was truly delectable. Fresh salad with homemade dressing, half an onion grilled to perfection, savory Hiroshima style okonomiyaki and wagyu beef that was tender and delicious!
After dinner he took us back into Kabukicho central to a luxurious hotel bar on the 45th floor. The night scene of Tokyo lay out before us like an electric sea of lights. It was truly awe inspiring, and the cocktails were supreme!
To round out the tour, Yappy took us to the infamous Golden Gai district where another warren of bars were tucked in together with jolly people milling all about. I felt like Alice in Kabukiland!
We made sure to pay our respects at the local shrine, then we went to Yappy’s favorite karaoke izakaya where we sang our little hearts out with the locals.

This coming Spring Equinox long weekend I'll be playing with The Ethan Project イーサン プロジェクト and some of the best bluegrass players in town! Never thought I'd be a bluegrass girl, but here we are lol. Gonna be playing songs from the Silver Lining album, and let's see what else shows up…
The WitchWay Spellcast has been dormant for some months, but I am happy to announce that a new look podcast is on the horizon, so stay tuned on the Apple/Podbean channels. Perhaps I just needed to concentrate on my album baby. She's doing well, and I will be putting her onto the YouTubes presently. So all good things are happening, like Kate Bush sings on “Cloudbusting”
