Half way through 2026 already. Time feels like it's changing again. Occasionally I'll feel it, as if I'm underwater. Occasionally I'll just let my eyes gaze off into the distance and let them lose focus. It's a trick I like to do when I get overwhelmed. In a crazy busy town like Tokyo, where faces and people are constantly coming at you, this is a helpful skill.
Last week The Raven's Tale played at Blackbird Eatery, Sasazuka. The audience were rapt and playing our little murder ballads somehow helped to get a laugh or two out of the crowd. Who knew gallows humor could be so therapeutic?
The Silver Lining album is currently docked, but I'm considering taking the album down to Kansai to play a show or two. I have very few connections in those parts, and am wondering if it's even worth doing a show when I have no idea if anyone will even turn up to see me play. Might as well give it a shot!
Anyways, I'm currently rehearsing for the LASSIEFEST event on the Summer Solstice. It's been incredibly fun to learn new tunes and sing some beloved songs from my youth with such a vibrant, amazing band of women. Here's to giving it our best!
