It's been a minute! The album baby is almost here!! I'm very excited on so many levels because this is the first time I'm releasing a record that I have produced myself. It's a whole OTHER LEVEL of FEAR. lol
Seriously, I wonder how I get anything done, being such a tragic perfectionist. I remember having stage fright at a young age, but once I was up there, it was like nothing else mattered and I could be free to be a clown, or a horse, or a cheeky twin sister, or a nervous young piano singer or whatever! But then the boos and the hisses and the parental criticism or the outright “OMG that was awful” comments would dampen the vibe and I'd be terrified to put myself out there ever again.
Fortunately over the years I've learned to tell those boos and hisses to take a flying leap. There will always be the naysayers and the people who think they know better. The ones who care will know how to give you constructive criticism. That's how we learn. Mistakes are GOOD (as I often tell my students).
The launch party is on November 22 at the best little Dutch pub, Lighthouse Kokubunji. The extremely talented and charming Kate Sikora will be opening the night with her super sweet joyful indie folk songs, and I will be doing two sets at the keys.
